If you know PHP well enough to take on a project (i.e. you know the syntax, security issues, performance issues, etc…) your best bet to obtain any work is to start off by putting together a sample site that shows what you can do and be prepared to show the code to an employer (beside being correct, it should be clean and well documented). If you know HTML/CSS and some javascript as well, you will look even better to your potential customers/employers, and knowledge of at least basic HTML is necessary to put together a sample site. Once you have your sample site together, you can try to pick up some freelance work, get a job with a company that does its web development in house, or apply at a web development firm. For freelance work, visit getafreelancer.com, odesk.com, or rentacoder.com. If you want a full-time position at a company, look on monster.com, careerbuilder.com, and craigslist; or simply google "PHP job". Once you get your sample site together, send me an email and I will review it for you before you start showing it to employers. If you have any other questions, feel free to send me a message.
