High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles LDS fiction is an American niche market of fiction novels featuring themes related to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Much of the recent rise in the number of titles and the improvement in the quality of LDS fiction is often attributed to Gerald Lund’s popular LDS historical fiction series The Work and the Glory. LDS fiction now accounts for more than half the sales of some Latter-day Saint book publishers.

but is this economic benefits even reaching out of the pockets of exporters and manufacturers??

The World Bank estimates that 456 million Indians (42% of the total Indian population) now live under the global poverty line of $1.25 per day (PPP). This means that a third of the global poor now reside in India. However, this also represents a significant decline in poverty from 60 percent in 1981 to 42 percent in 2005, although the rupee has decreased in value since then, while the official standard of 538/356 rupees per month has remained the same.[4][5] Income inequality in India (Gini coefficient: 32.5 in year 1999- 2000)[6] is increasing. On the other hand, the Planning Commission of India uses its own criteria and has estimated that 27.5% of the population was living below the poverty line in 2004–2005, down from 51.3% in 1977–1978, and 36% in 1993-1994[2]. The source for this was the 61st round of the National Sample Survey (NSS) and the criterion used was monthly per capita consumption expenditure below Rs. 356.35 for rural areas and Rs. 538.60 for urban areas. 75% of the poor are in rural areas, most of them are daily wagers, self-employed householders and landless labourers.

Although Indian economy has grown steadily over the last two decades, its growth has been uneven when comparing different social groups, economic groups, geographic regions, and rural and urban areas.[3] Between 1999 and 2008, the annualized growth rates for Gujarat (8.8%), Haryana (8.7%), or Delhi (7.4%) were much higher than for Bihar (5.1%), Uttar Pradesh (4.4%), or Madhya Pradesh (3.5%).[7] Poverty rates in rural Orissa (43%) and rural Bihar (41%) are among the world’s most extreme.[8]
The India State Hunger Index 2008 by the International Food Policy Research Institute. Punjab has the best nutritional situation, whereas malnutrition in Madhya Pradesh is worse than in Ethiopia or Sudan.

India has a higher rate of malnutrition among children under the age of three (46% in year 2007) than any other country in the world.[3][9]

Despite significant economic progress, 1/4 of the nation’s population earns less than the government-specified poverty threshold of 12 rupees per day (approximately USD $0.25). Official figures estimate that 27.5%[10] of Indians lived below the national poverty line in 2004-2005.[11] A 2007 report by the state-run National Commission for Enterprises in the Unorganised Sector (NCEUS) found that 77% of Indians, or 836 million people, lived on less than 20 rupees (approximately USD $0.50 nominal; $2 PPP) per day.[12]

As per the 2001 census, 35.5% of Indian households availed of banking services, 35.1% owned a radio or transistor, 31.6% a television, 9.1% a phone, 43.7% a bicycle, 11.7% a scooter, motorcycle or a moped, and 2.5% a car, jeep or van; 34.5% of the households had none of these assets. [13] According to Department of Telecommunications of India the phone density has reached 33.23% by Dec 2008 and has an annual growth of 40%

i dont think so we are worthy of being counteed in the top 3 developing nations at all with such statistics!

@rahul

and this is how it works…

btw this is all i can do…

afterall i m not born as a gandhi with a silver spoon

later on i may join a true secular party which is lead by a simple party worker with no political background

but till then..internet is the best way to spread awareness and free gandhi slaves!

"According to Arjun Sen Gupta committee, 80% of Indians live depending on Rs. 20 per day. Due to the drastic increase in the rates of essential commodities from 2005 onwards, the life has become burden to the lower middle class and middle class people as well. 20 crores of people sleep with empty stomach everyday because they do not have anything to eat. To eradicate hunger, India is in the 94th position, and is backward than the neighboring countries such as China and Pakistan.

In India out of 100 new born infants, 67 of them die within a year, 93 of them die within 5 years. One of the reasons according to 2004 report is, out of Gross national Income, only a small percentage is spent on peoples health.

Another thing is out of 194 countries, only 4 countries are spending less than us on health. We are not even in the position of spending 2% of GDP on health.

One, out of five children dying world wide, within five years of age is from our country. According to UNICEF report, ten lakhs of children die every year. In our country 5 lakhs of infants die within 28 days, 60% of women deliver at homes; 78 thousand of women die during pregnancy and delivery.

India is in top position in the case of child labour. 12.6 million Children’s childhood is being destroyed, who are working in various sectors. Poverty is seed bed for child labour. Among them children of rural areas are working as agricultural labour and bonded labour. In urban areas 58% of children are working in hazardous industries. In the education field, among the 100 children admitted in 1st class, only 53% of them reach till 10th class, and 38% reach till degree level. Only 7% of the students are studying higher education (IIM, IIT, MBA).

The biggest exploitation known in the Human history which got publicity during the time of 2009 elections is of the black money hidden in Swiss bank. 1,50,000 crores dollars i.e. Rs.75,00,000 (seventy five lakhs of crores) of Indian black money is in Swiss bank. This lakhs of crores of money, which is earned in illegal ways by political leaders, corporate, business sectors and corrupted higher officials, is hidden in Swiss bank since many years. Apart from this, still thousands of crores of black money is in our country itself. Our foreign loan is more than 12,50,000 crores, which means the black money in Swiss bank is 5 times more than that of the Indian foreign loan. In this lakhs of crores of money more than 100 crores is of Indians. It was pretended that the efforts are being done to bring back money from Swiss bank. But it seems the UPA government is not interested in doing so."

This datas are available on many sites . I intentionally gave this link.

EDIT @ HW, yes, 20 rs is actually an average . In tribal areas there are families whose weekly income may be less than 20.

The emergence of the middle class is cited as growth but the widenening gap betwn the rich and the poor is actually the true test of any country’s success or failure and I dont think we fared very well in that.

I have a 16 year old step son (that Ive raised since he was 6 years old) . His natural mother left him and now its me and his father. He is counting down the days till he can move out. He thinks I am to strict but I think I have a good balance. I believe that you get freedom with trust. He has made too many wrong choices in the past year for me to trust him… for example, breaking into my house with a friend to watch porn, going in some strangers basement when he said he was going "skateboarding" outside (which I would have let him go over to if he had just called to ask permission)., making out in front of the school Car line (then when told not to do it again he did again anyway in front of teachers and parents)! Found in a letter he was "cutting" himself (when we approached him with it he said he only did it twice and doesnt do it anymore). Im wondering if he lied about that for attention.Hiding every girlfriend he has(which yes he is allowed to have one if he introduces her and does it the right way)., doesnt talk very much, likes to argue everything, goes through my things when Im gone, lies, sneaky, dark drawings and words like "fail" etc., found down graphic dirty lyrics from rap songs on paper (someone at school is letting him hear music that we dont have in the house, then he writes it down…I found that to be strage), and at times disrespectful (has said FU to me). I know all teens go through a rebellious stage but its driving me crazy, because Im always suspicious of what he’s doing and cant rust him right now. I told him he needs to start making good choices (and passing every class in school) if he wants some freedom and earn his trust back (but that it cant happen over night). I need to see consistency. I wont even let him "jog" around the neighborhood with that other boy he gets in trouble with cause I think they’re gonna sneak off and do something else. Am I over reacting or would you too keep a close eye on this kid? I have expectations for all my kids. I know because I came from a home that had no rules and I got in to a lot of trouble. Its not like make him a prisoner of his own house (only if hes grounded). He gets to do a lot of fun stuff, have friends over, goes out with his friends, but now Im starting to worry if he cant be trusted with the minor things how will he be trusted with the big stuff in life? Its like every time I give him an inch he takes a mile. Now he says as soon as he turns 18 he’s moving out cause he hates rules. Which by the way he will still be in high school when he’s 18 years old. I told him that if thats what he want we can not financially support him any longer. If he wants to leave because he hates rules and wants to live like an adult then he can have all the "adult responsibilities that come with it." It breaks my heart as a mom that he would want to learn the hard way. He’s an intelligent boy and could get great grades, , and land him self a scholarship to a great University if he wants to, and have a great future. What concerns me is he has no drive or motivation. My husband says that if he wont take our advice that he’ll learn the hard way in life. I believe while teen are still in school its your job to make sure they dont fail in school (or should I let him if he wants to screw off). Some people say if you let your kid fail they’ll grow up and learn from it. I feel like if I give up on his grades then Ive failed him as a parent. Raising teens is so confusing!!! Im trying to get a hold of a councilor to get him some help. Im also ready How to raise teen books!!! Any good advice would be much appreciated.
God Bless

As far as i can tell, your son is the one that has problems.
I am not sure how you would fix that, but as a teen too, i still follow most of my parent’s expectations.
