Earn a Living Online

More re: prev Q – What about earning a living from ocean/beaches nearby (approx $50,000/yr)?

If my 2.5 acres (only 1.5 acres can really be used) cannot provide enough income to support me, perhaps I could use my double garage as a workshop/manufacturing plant . . .
I’ve thought of polishing rocks found on the beach or
collecting seaweed and making some kind of fertiliser out of it (other ideas are welcome) or
something to do with beach sand (not sure what I could do with that) or
something to do with sea water (not sure what I could do with that).
I sure like the idea of starting with "free" materials (just throw in labour and go).

Along the same line of thought, what about making something from a weed that grows abundantly in the area (I don’t know what weeds there are in northern Tasmania) Or people may pay me to get rid of something they don’t want, like weeds or something else (don’t know what else).

Another idea may be to use sawdust or end pieces from local sawmills – what could I make with them that could earn me a decent living (something simple, since I’ve never done woodworking before). I heard of three men in Vancouver, Canada who were musicians and they made mushrooms out of cheap wood and sold them to gardening centres – they made their living doing that and played in their band for fun – I like that kind of idea. I think Tasmania has hard and soft wood – I’d have to look into this more if I wanted to pursue this idea.

As I said in my previous question, I’d like to do something that involves adding value to a product, such as collecting free rocks and polishing them and selling them polished or making something (no idea what I’d make – not an artist) with them and selling that.

I really just want other, specific ideas about how to earn a living off my land or from a local source ($50,000 per year – I’m a single mum and I’m determined to find something that will support me and my two young kids). I may have to do a combination of several things, but I’m not sure what to seriously pursue or what combination to pursue – - – please give me good ideas – the more the merrier!!!!! Thanks

The polished rocks are a good idea if you have enough of them – you could seel each one with a little fortune cookie type card.
