Home > grow your business

Not E-Mail but regular snail mail.

Take a look at these direct mail tips at www.myezprinter.com under postcards.

Yes..99% will end up in the trash…if you fail to do these steps :

Have a very professional, authoratative design layout and headline ….home made looking appearance, gives the impression that anything you have to say on the card is of the same cheezy value as the graphics.

Have a worthwhile offer. Direct mail that just makes people "aware" that you exists, usually doesnt get much response….you must give them an incentive to make contact with you…once that happens, the rest of the steps in the business relationship can happen…see, so its kind of important that they respond…do whatever you have to do!, don’t be conservative.

MyEZPrinter will give you a free marketing review of any layout you send in, even if you don’t buy printing.

failure to convince prospective customers to purchase your product or service-this could occur from:

improperly or not identifying target market
not reaching them with your marketing message
marketing message that is ineffective
product that is inferior to competitors
product at the wrong price point
not enough demand for product/service

these are a few…

How do you grow your AVON Business, I would like tips and what not…

I do not sell Avon but I am in school for Marketing. I suggest making some flyers with phone number tabs that can easily be pulled off. Put them up at local stores in your area (get permission first). Think about your target market- women, moms, younger women… go to community centers, churches, moms groups, womens colleges, grocery stores, etc.

Invest in a sign to put up in your yard with your number (cost for a smaller professional one would be around $30- go with a design in mind).

It might take some time but you could go door to door in you neighborhood and introduce yourself, leave booklets and a card, offer to do a party if they are interested in getting some friends together for a good time.

Host a few party’s for friends and family, bring some samples and give make overs to people who want them, play games with prizes (products), and make sure you have snacks/drinks. A small investment will go a long way.

At the party think of a game to get people to have party’s. For example in tupperware I offer mini containers on keycahins to anyone who wants one but I tell them that some of the containers have a "you have won a tupperware party hosted by me". This usually gets a few more partys. Make sure they understand that they have to set a date that night.

Also it is all about getting clients to come back especially since AVON is something that will need to be replenished. Keep a good record of each person you have sold to (or at least the top buyers), what they bought, what they were interested in but didn’t buy, and check in with them every month or two (depending on the product).

Example
Ann (608)XXX-XXX
Bought facial cream and mascara
Interested in the new spa products
Had her first baby in May and named her Grace
Brought her mom and sister to the party @ Jane’s in Oct 2008

When you call start the conversation with common ground…
"How’s Grace doing? I bet she is getting big… Yeah my neice is just a few months older and I remember she was getting into everything at that age." Then you can go on to say something like "I remembered that you really liked the new spa collection and I wanted to let you know that this month we are having a special sale on these items… maybe she’ll bite, maybe not. Then ask if she needed a reorder of her Mascara (be specific- type and color). Don’t ask too many questions, be a friend AND a sales rep but don’t be too pushy. You can always call again in a few weeks and ask if she wanted to get a few friends together for a party… if you get a no or a not right now then ask if they would consider it in the next 3 months? Everytime you call or have an order fill in the date and comments next to your notes.

Well I hope that gets you a good start. I could probably come up with more if you are interested send me a message.

PS. Make sure you have great product knowledge, a wide selection of samples and make sure you use the products or at least test them.

PSS. If you host a party then make sure you are dressed well (business casual) and make sure your hair is neat and your makeup is AVON.

Thanks everyone
Should I be patient and grow slowly but gradually, day by day? I have seen other people who have started their small businesses just about the same time I did and they are doing very well far better than me. thanks
Started approx. 3 yrs ago. I don’t have the big money to buy expensive tools, not even to rent out a place. I work from my home. I just go by word of mouth and pass out business cards.
thanks Confussed554. About the Advertisment. A friend said to me the same thing, but I wasn’t sure if he was right about the advertisment deal.

ADVERTISE.
ADVERTISE!!!

DONT GO DAY BY DAY, DONT SIT BACK GET OUT THERE DO SOMETHING!!! BE A GO GETTER, BUT YOUR NAME OUT THERE HAND OUT FLIERS!! BUSINESS CARDS, MAKE THINGS TO GIVE OUT!!! STICK YOUR BUSINESS CARD IN EVERY WINDOW AT WALMART!!!!

TALK TO PEOPLE, INTERDUCE YOUR SELF, NETWORK!

I am working for a company that has amazing on size fits all clothing and is selling great in Canada but we want to expand to the US. Any suggestions?

Know what your market is and go for it. I don’t know what company you are or that I’ve heard of you so just go to a few stores somewhere in the U.S. where it is similar to the market in Canada. Lets say JcPenny, Dillard’s, Younkers, Macy’s, Gordmans. (These are the bigger chains) and start selling to them.

Wear your customer’s shoes
Profit generating implementation

1. Offer a good product.
2. know your potential clientele and gear your advertising to their needs.
3. Advertise, advertise, advertise – you have to spend money to make money.
4. Provide reliable assistance – a help desk – when your product fails to meet the client’s needs.
5. Encourage clientele to spread the good word about your product/service.
6. Keep abreast of the market’s needs – things change, and you need to be able and willing to change
in order to keep up and keep selling. This requires a good research branch – even if it’s only a
couple of employees, they may well be your most valuable employees.
7. Be sure to compensate your employees well, including praise for jobs well done. If all you ever
do is bltch at them when things don’t go perfectly, you’ll lose their respect, their loyalty, and
their services – they’ll quit on ya, and it won’t take much of that until your business goes down
the tubes.
8. Save for your retirement – but don’t short-change the business in order to build up a fat
bank account quickly. Remember – you ARE the business. And it is you.
